Putting Patterns, Pivots and Turns to Work

Oh!  I Know & Coo Coo Cuh Chew!

This video presents Killarney Boys of Pleasure, a reel at 140 bpm.  This is a very respectable tempo for an energetic session.  Choosing these two patterns allows a player to support the tune without have to move as fast as a Monday-Tuesday pattern.

The track begins with one measure of metronome.

As you study the track, remember the structure of a reel.  Play the pattern you have selected through three measure.  Then play one measure of pivot or turn around.  Then back to the pattern you have selected.  Play this sequence for both the A and B parts.

The video linked to the audio will show when the patterns change.

This file can be downloaded.  That will allow you to set the tempo to what ever speed you want.
