Assignment - create a motive

After working through the content of the Monday session try your hand at creative a motive.  Use any source you wish.

The motive you create must be at least two notes long and should be no longer than six notes.

Play or sing the motive.  Record the motive. Transcribe it in standard notation or in  ABC notation.  Get to known the motive and understand where it might lead.

Once you have created the motive try to extend it into a complete phrase.  Remember that a motive is the hint of an idea.  A phrase is a complete musical idea that can stand alone and makes sense to a listener. Play, sing, record and transcribe the phrase you have created.

Nothing comes to mind as a source for your motive???  Then listen to this short audio file and use these five tones to create a motive. The motive you decide upon may use only two of the tones or all five of the tones.
