American Folklore Society
The American Folklore Society is an association of people who create and communicate knowledge about folklore. Our more than 1,200 members are scholars and teachers at colleges and universities, professionals in arts and cultural organizations, and community members involved in folklore work. The Society dates back to 1888. It publishes the Journal of American Folklore and a bimonthly newsletter. More than thirty special interest group sections support the overall mission of the Society.
